Megan Strayhorn and Councilman Streets

The firm’s own Megan Strayhorn recently had the honor of presenting a prestigious leadership and service award to City of Fort Myers Councilman Johnny Streets. The ceremony took place during an annual Law Week awards luncheon hosted by the Lee County Bar Association (LCBA) in May 2024.

In a moment of heartfelt surprise and gratitude, Streets accepted the esteemed Liberty Bell Award. Presented to individuals exemplifying exceptional leadership and service in advancing justice within their communities, this marks an important moment of recognition for Streets’ unwavering commitment.

The Liberty Bell Award stands as a testament to his tireless advocacy and profound impact on Fort Myers, inspiring hope and fostering positive change for all residents. “I was literally almost in tears, because I was totally surprised. As I was awarded that, I was very appreciative,” shared Streets, reflecting on the unexpected acknowledgment.

Known for his selfless dedication, Streets emphasized, “I’m one of those guys who, like so many others, doesn’t do things for recognition. I represent people.”

The law firm of Strayhorn & Persons-Mulicka honors his commitment to the local community, which is what also captured the attention of the LCBA. “Law Week gives LCBA the privilege of paying tribute to several extraordinary individuals, who have selflessly dedicated themselves to the service of others,” said the Honorable Kathy Smith, LCBA president and public defender with the 20th Judicial Circuit.

For Streets, the significance of the award extends beyond personal acclaim. “I will always hold that as one of the highest sustained honors that I have ever received,” he expressed.
